In a battle between Infinity Gauntlets, Tony Stark pulled out all the stops to improve upon the Asgardian and dwarven design, making a device capable of recreating his incredible array of abilities as Iron Man while harnessing the combined power of the Infinity Stones. Tony Stark's final creation blends his own advanced technology with the cosmic possibilities of the MCU to create perhaps his greatest invention yet. And with nanotechnology serving as its material base, it can reshape into different forms, including Stark's repulsor blasters and other augmented items as an extension of the Iron Man armor, making it a significantly more versatile piece of hardware. The Stark-designed gauntlet is visibly undamaged by the Hulk's initial usage, which restored half of all life in the universe, leading the Avengers to scramble and keep it away from the alternate timeline Thanos and his assembled armies in the final battle. This made the dwarven gauntlet nearly indestructible, though the feedback from its second usage of the Infinity Stones visibly damaged the gauntlet, likely beyond repair. The original gauntlet was based on Asgardian and dwarven technology, likely forged from a material similar to the mythical Uru metal that makes up Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. While both are powerful, Stark actually improved upon the initial Infinity Gauntlet's design to create his own replacement. RELATED: Tony Stark's Biggest MCU Moments Highlighted in Incredible Iron Man Poster While Thanos obtained this new, standalone gauntlet during Endgame's climactic battle, the shared technology allowed Stark to fashion his armor's right glove into a makeshift Infinity Gauntlet, incorporating all six Infinity Stones to obliterate Thanos and his army at the expense of Stark's life. It was first wielded by the Hulk due to his superior physical strength and tolerance to the gamma radiation emanating from the stones themselves. While the new gauntlet was based on Stark's bleeding edge nanotechnology used for his latest Iron Man armor, it could also function as a standalone gauntlet. With Thanos' gauntlet rendered useless by his actions, Stark designed a replacement capable of harnessing the power of all six combined Infinity Stones obtained throughout MCU history. Then, at the start of Endgame, it is revealed Thanos used the gauntlet to atomize the stones to prevent the surviving heroes from undoing his victory. Thanos is seen armed with this gauntlet throughout Infinity War, using it to wipe out half of all life in the universe after obtaining all six Infinity Stones. Following the completion of the gauntlet, Thanos slaughtered the dwarves and severed Etri's hands to prevent him from forging another gauntlet to undo the Mad Titan's plans. Infinity War revealed that Etri, the Dwarven King of Nidavellir who had forged many of Asgard's weapons, including Mjolnir, was coerced into forging the Infinity Gauntlet by Thanos, presumably in the heart of a dying star at the center of the forge.

The first actual Infinity Gauntlet in the series was initially seen in the mid-credits scene for 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Thanos arms himself with the gauntlet to literally take matters into his own hands. RELATED: Captain America's Stealth Suit: Why Cap Wore It to Kill Thanos in Endgame Enjoying her newfound freedom and power, Hela entered Odin's armory where she casually dismissed the Infinity Gauntlet as a fake before turning her attention to more worthwhile objectives. After emerging from her extra-dimensional imprisonment upon Odin's death, Hela ravaged Asgard's armies before seizing control of the throne for herself. While assumed to be the genuine gauntlet for years, this was effectively debunked in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok by Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death.

Interestingly, the first Infinity Gauntlet seen in the MCU - briefly amongst Odin's guarded armory on Asgard in 2011's Thor - likely wouldn't be able to wield the full power of the assembled Infinity Stones at all. While both of these gauntlets were more than capable of harnessing the power of the Infinity Stones, which of the two is the most powerful? The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced two different, functional versions of the Infinity Gauntlet to date: a Dwarven one wielded by Thanos in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and one used by the surviving MCU superheroes in 2019's Avengers: Endgame based on Tony Stark's advanced nanotechnology. Possessing the power to unite and channel the power of all six Infinity Stones, the Infinity Gauntlet - in any iteration of the Marvel Universe - is one of the most cosmically powerful artifacts in existence.
